Air pollution is a collective term used to describe compounds that can cause damage to the environment and human health when released to the air. Air pollution has both natural and anthropogenic sources.
NILU has extensive experience in the sampling and analysis of various compounds in the air and precipitation. The institute conducts a variety of analyses of a number of different components through its role in Norway's national air monitoring programme. NILU's analyses can detect inorganic ions and gases, metals, persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and PAHs in air and water samples.
