NILU is ISO certified in accordance with NS-EN ISO 9001:2000
NILU was certified in accordance with NS -EN ISO 9001:2000 by the National Institute of Technology and on 22 December 2006 was awarded certificate number 580 for the production and delivery of research-based services related to environmental issues. The certificate is valid until 30 September 2010 and must be revised every year.
NILU’s laboratories are accredited in accordance with NS-EN ISO/IEC 17025.
NILU’s laboratories (organic and inorganic chemical analyses, along with all instruments and sampling) are accredited in accordance with NS-EN ISO/IEC 17025. The accreditation number is TEST 008.
NILU is Norway’s national reference laboratory for the measurement of ozone.
National reference laboratory for the measurinig of ozone
NILU was granted this task by the Norwegian Metrology Service on 18 May 2006. This means that NILU will establish and maintain national measurement standards for ozone and will regularly document that the standards are traceable at the highest international level. As a part of its duties as the national reference laboratory, NILU will also offer traceable calibration of ozone measuring instruments.
National reference laboratory for air quality
In 2001 the Climate and Pollution Agency in Norway - Klif - appointed NILU as the national reference laboratory for air quality in Norway. The main tasks of the reference laboratory are to ensure that air quality measurements in Norway are carried out in accordance with the requirements stipulated in EU directives, i.e. that the measurements are of the required quality and comparable. Among other things, data in the national database provide the basis for reports by Norwegian authorities to the European Environment Agency (EEA).
